Guest book Chateau Valcreuse
Weekend with friends
Great location, wonderful chateau and superb food. The owners, Caroline and Alexander are very helpful and very kind. The garden is full of old trees and fruit and with a swimming pool. We also enjoyed the view of the room.
If you're looking for a perfect place to stay: you've found it. The way Caroline & Alexander run this B&B is stunning. You feel at home from the very first moment you arrive, thanks to the warm and caring attention you receive from the hosts. Breakfast and diner are gorgeous and well taken care off. The setting of the castle is breath taking, the decoration is extraordinary. This is a 5 star hotel but with the additional personal touch you can only find in the best professionally run B&B ! A Must Do. Dirk & Sabin

A taste of Belguim hospitality in France
Just spent 3 nights at Chateau Valcreuse and it was a truly lovely experience.
Alexender and Caroline are the most wonderful hosts and as soon as we entered the chateau they made us feel very welcome and at home. The chateau is an absolutely beautiful building with fabulously tasteful furnishings and fittings - stylist but extremely comfortable and has such a relaxed atmosphere that you feel at home immediately!
They are charming hosts and immediately made us feel very welcome in their home and everything from the welcoming pot of tea to ensuring we were seated next to guests whom we could speak to in English and have a laugh with at dinner was wonderful. Dinner is a communal affair commencing with aperitifs in the lounge and then onto the lovely dining room (normally they eat outside but the weather was a bit on the cold side when we were there).Whilst the table d'hote menu and wine is a bit on the expensive side the dinner on both nights we ate there was amazing and well worth it - they try to create a country house atmosphere and do so very successfully. Breakfast is also superb with plenty of choice and different treats each morning and it was so special to sit on the terrace and enjoy the amazing views of the valley
When we were there all the guests were predominantly from Belgium and were all very welcoming and engaging we actually forgot we were in France!!
From the chateau its a short walk into La Roche Posey and our hosts are full of ideas as to how to enjoy the area - this is a vey special place so do go and enjoy!

We were not to know that our hearts were about to be lost to Caroline, Alexander, Florence and Arnaud and their magnificent home Chateau Valcreuse when we booked our April culinary adventure through The International Kitchen. Our research to find an excellent cooking program gave a brief description of the accommodations - such an understatement! From our sumptuous room “Emotion”, and its fabulous ensuite bathroom, the view was spectacular with trees budding and flowers blooming. Every detail seemed to be designed to make us feel comfortable and appreciated. We enjoyed the carafes of mineral water from La Roche Posay and delicious handmade macaroons in our room, the amazing selection of teas and specialty Trappist beers in the lounge, and the enchanting company of the other guests and family in the beautiful sitting rooms. Poolside cocktails and a scrumptious welcome dinner even included a birthday surprise for me! Arrangements were made for us to visit the spa one afternoon, which would have been very difficult for us to manage on our own. From sun-up to turn-down our every need was anticipated and provided in a very generous and appealing way.
How amazing to have the luxury of having Caroline and Alexander as our hosts and as fellow students in the cooking program! Not only did we share incredible culinary adventures, we became special friends. We delighted in discovering the secrets of Chateau Valcreuse, seeing the results of their hard work and reveling in the dreams for their family and this marvelous place. If only we could have arranged to stay longer to enjoy more of the “chateau” life! I have tears when I look at our pictures and re-live memories that will always be treasured!
Room tip: All rooms are lovely. Ours faced the spectacular valley/river view.
Peaceful retreat in French countryside
I usually do not expected that in a B&B, but this little paradise appears to have a staff with a professional hospitality and restaurant background. The food, service and decor exceeded all expectations. Due to the local topography, the area has a micro-climate which is sunnier than the broader region, which worked out great for playing some golf on one of he several nearby golf courses. If you wonder how to get there, there's a direct bullet train connection (-2hrs) from CDG Paris Airport to the nearby Châtellerault. It's the perfect place to unplug from the grid for a couple of days!

A visit to Alexander's and Caroline's Chateau Valcreuse will change your life. It is as simple as that. Typically, we are not given to making sweeping statements such as this for fear that other readers will interpret it as hyperbole; however, we write this with all honesty and meaning. Despite being a gorgeous boutique B&B in a superb setting with all the first class amenities you can imagine, Chateau Valcreuse is so much more than that. We are firm believers that you can travel to the most striking places on earth and see the most beautiful sites and eat the tastiest foods and have a "good time" or even a "great time"... but when you travel to a striking place and eat the tastiest foods and are able to share it all with new friends that you will have for the rest of your life, it elevates your travel to "an experience" instead of "a vacation". And that is what happens at Caroline's and Alexander's Chateau Valcreuse... you are treated to an experience that you will carry with you forever and will have you immediately planning your return trip. We will refrain from the details: you need to find out for yourself. For 7 years now, they have been pouring their passion, imagination, hospitality, friendship, and excellence into Chateau Valcreuse: the result for the traveler... you are awestruck when you arrive, you experience pure joy while you are there, and you will shed tears when it's time to leave. But you will smile as you drive away... because you know you're coming back and Chateau Valcreuse will be waiting for you.

A drop of paradise
Our first stay was 3 yrs ago and the place has only gotten better . Caroline and Alexander plus their crew make you feel like part of the family . It is like visiting old friends . Can't say enough or rate them highly enough for their commitment and caring . If you ever want to relax and feel the best , then go and stay here at Chateau Valcreuse ....
Perfect start of our holliday
We stayed for a week at this wonderful place. Excellent service combined with the stunning room, great breakfast and dinner we enjoyed the first week of our holliday at Chateau Valcruese! The rooms are filled with very well picked items so you want to stay there forever. The bed is hand made in belgium and from perfect quality.

To go somewhere this good makes me feel a bit selfish.
To share a dream like this is to invite perhaps too many other people, would it become too busy? Not to worry however as the chateau has quite a limited number of rooms. The rooms are simply gorgeous, the scenery and the views are to die for and passion with which the owners make you feel so welcome, so special, so pampered is beyond comparison with other hotels. Why? Simply because you are treated like an exotic cocktail of friends and family.
The chateau grounds are large,so the under crowding cocoons one in a haven of peace and relaxation possibilities. The pool, the petanque, the table tennis and the boat on the river were impeccable complements to the tranquility and then in the evening the superbly comfortable lounge was alongside the snooker room which young and old all enjoyed.
Breakfast shows real attention to detail and culinary art and the table d'hôte dinner was scrumptious and the family atmosphere and good conversation matches the food and carefully chosen wine list.
Room tip: Corner rooms at the back of the building are very spacious and overlook the valley offering breathta...
The perfect spot for special moments.
Caroline and Alexander have that rare sensitivity that makes it possible to make you feel both a privileged guest and one of the family. The tasteful furnishings and cosy welcoming touches in the rooms ooze luxury while the extensive estate with breathtaking views on offer to the lucky occupants of the five suites make for a unique hideaway - and all this just a few minutes' walk from the picturesque medieval village of La Roche Posay. The pool, gazebo, comfortable seating under the shade of the magnificent old trees, or table tennis and petanque provide sufficient opportunity for whiling away lazy days. This is indeed a place where memories are made.

A big award !
Chateau Valcreuse is something different......
From the first moment of arrival , we discovered the warm hospitality of Chateau Valcreuse. This amazing chateau has it all ! Situated on the bank of the river Creuse, this Chateau has 5 suites.
We had the pleasure of having the suite Imagination, located on the second floor with a gracious landscape. The rooms are spacious and very nice decorated. Breakfast is an amazing experience and very well served ! During the day this unknown region of France has a lot to offer ! We especially liked the Nature reserve La Brenne, a place with a thousand lakes and a impressive nature. In the evening we had several times dinner in the chateau. Chef Dennis and his wife Alexandrine prepares you a supreme menu with local fresh products. The hospitality of Caroline & Alexander deserves a big award.
How many stars deserves this wonderfull B&B ? Look to the sky at night on this beautiful location and you will know what we are talking about !

Our vote for the most romantic place to stay in France!
We feel so very lucky to have found Chateau Valcreuse! As we drove through lush rolling countryside we wondered why, in forty years of exploring France, we had never before discovered this lovely area.
Alexander and Caroline have created the most beautiful home and together with their delightful children, Florence and Arnaud, and their superb staff they make you feel extremely welcome and special.
"I really don't want to leave here!" my husband murmured just before we went to sleep in our supremely comfortable bed after our last delicious dinner. From the moment we arrived until we left we were completely spoilt! Breakfast was amazing - beautifully presented with the freshest of ingredients. Dinner was superb - Denis is their passionate chef and seemingly by magic produced all the things we most love to eat without knowing what they were!! Each plate looked and tasted wonderful and I have only to look at the Chateau's Facebook page to see a photograph of the actual chocolate pudding we ate one night!
On our first morning sitting in the sunshine on the terrace after our delicious breakfast it was tempting to just stay there relaxing all day. But there is a wealth of things to see and do in the immediate area. We loved the little market in Preuilly-sur-Claise, the chateau at Azay-le-Ferron, and just exploring the pretty unspoilt towns that are all within a short drive. Caroline can also arrange hot air ballooning or guided tours in a wonderful 1953 Citroen Traction Avant car.
To us Chateau Valcreuse is quite perfect. We cannot thank Alexander and Caroline enough for giving us so many happy memories to treasure until our next visit.

These settings bring so much more then a holiday ...
the first thing we noticed where the details
every thing is placed, cut, painted, etc for a reason
absolutly nothing in or around the chateau feels out of place
this not in a compulsory harsch and full way
but in a relax
a perfect match between the old and the new
you really feel like walking around in high class interior magazine
Then there's the owners alexander & caroline
whoom ad that extra somthing to what was already a perfect painting
there relaxed way of managing the guests
there synergie with the staff
witch you can not ever do without if you want to maintain this standard
is so respectfull and warming from both ways equal
everybody just loves what they do over there
as a guest you just do the same ...
enjoy youre perfect breakfast overlooking the hilly scenary from the terrace
listening to the hunderds of birds loving yet another sunny day
take one of the bikes and strawl threw the country
have a glass of great wine and or champagne down by the pool
enjoy the high end french cuisine in the dining room
and end of with youre thee or cofee by the fireplace in the lounge
as you can see i can talk for hours about everything that makes this place so special
but i shall leave it to you to discover
without a doubt one of the most relaxing holidays
i've ever experienced!

Raising the standard for B&B's.
Although B&B are not our cup of tea friends advised us to settle in a few days in Chateau Valcreuse and wander around the countryside. We experienced a wonderfull mid week in this small castle which felt like coming home. We really enjoyed the hospitality of this Belgian couple in France. No hassle, no obligations to other residents just relax and be overwhelmed by this beautifull region and this superb location. Even if you don't want to visit the surroundings the stay in the chateau itself is worth the destination More than 100% value for money. Put it on your to do list.

We could only stay one night in this beautifully maintained and stunningly decorated chateau on our way through the Loire area. We have stayed in many chateaux on our travels through France on previous trips and this is the very best we've encountered. Caroline and Alexander and their fabulous team treated us like family friends and we felt very cossetted indeed! We shared a 4-course dinner which was magnificent, went for a ramble through the beautiful gardens and orchard and visited the old town of Le Roche-Posay, just a 10-minute walk away. We can absolutely recommend this wonderful chateau. Thanks again, everyone, from Lee and Gary, Melbourne, Australia
Wonderful location to relax. We love it! Highly recommended.
The rooms are very beautiful, with a fabulous atmosphere. Breakfast outside with a beautiful view. Dinner at night under the trees. The chateau is walking distance to the village. The garden is beautiful and quiet. Kids love the pool, the swing, ping pong table,...
Alexander, Caroline and their team are wonderful hosts with an eye for every detail. Every object in the castle is carefuly selected. Alexander even hand picks the music playing in the background.
PS: use the pick-nick basket, they will fill it for you!

Treated like kings
We had a wonderful 2 weeks stay in Chateau Valcreuse: luxury accomodation, excellent breakfast and dinners in the garden with beautiful views. Service is from a top level. Also our children had a great time thanks to the childfriendly approach and facilities.
An absolute juwel in the beautiful Loire valley of France.

Chateau Valcreuse ROCKS!!!
Woowww, I have visited the area of la Roche Posay which is really wonderful! It is not so deap in France, not so South oriented but the Provence feeling was absolute there! What a beautiful surrounding + you have there the best of all France together, the castles, the sun flower fields, the good resto's, the nice sweet villages in pastel colours painted, sweet markets with local products and the cherise on the cake I had was my stay during that travel in Chateau Valcreuse! What a beautiful B&B. I felt like a Princess and more! The interior was really with so much taste! The evening diner by Chef Denis was amazing. The domain of the Chateau was so relaxing, beautiful and the team working their with on top the host couple was so providing you a 'home-sweet-home-feeling'.
I will come back there for sure!
